Colombian Andes Journeys

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing, browsing, or using this website, and/or by booking or participating in any service offered by Colombian Andes Journeys (operated by El Dorado Adventure), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be legally bound by these Terms and Conditions.

If you do not agree with these Terms and Conditions, you must refrain from using this website and from booking or participating in any of our services.

Electronic acceptance, including booking confirmation and payment, constitutes legally binding agreement to these Terms.

2. Operator Identification

Colombian Andes Journeys is a commercial brand operated by El Dorado Adventure, a legally registered tourism company in Colombia, duly registered before the Colombian National Tourism Registry (RNT).

All services are organized and invoiced in Colombia under Colombian law.

3. Nature of Services

The company organizes and coordinates:

  • Private and group tours

  • High-altitude expeditions

  • Technical activities (mountaineering, glacier travel, climbing, via ferrata, trekking, caving)

  • Customized travel experience

Services may include transportation (owned or third-party), accommodation (hotels, rural lodges, refuges, hostels, camping), and food services.

Some services are provided by independent third-party suppliers.

The company acts as organizer and coordinator and does not own or directly operate all service components.

4. Assumption of Risk

Participants acknowledge that adventure and mountain activities involve inherent risks, including but not limited to:

  • Falls and physical injuries

  • Altitude sickness

  • Extreme weather conditions

  • Rock or ice fall

  • Remote terrain hazards

  • Transportation-related incidents

Participation is voluntary and at the participant’s own risk.

Participants expressly assume all inherent risks associated with mountain and adventure activities.

5. Health and Medical Requirements

Participants declare that they:

  • Are physically and mentally fit to participate

  • Will disclose any relevant medical condition prior to the activity

  • Hold valid international medical insurance covering adventure activities

  • Will strictly follow guide instructions

The company reserves the right to remove any participant deemed physically or mentally unfit to continue. No refund shall apply in such case.

6. Reservations and Payments

Reservations are confirmed upon:

  • Full payment; or

  • Deposit payment with balance due no later than 7 days prior to the tour start date.

Failure to pay the remaining balance within the required timeframe may result in cancellation without refund of the deposit.

Payments may be made in COP or USD.

7. Cancellation Policy

Cancellation by Participant

Day tours:

  • Cancellation at least 36 hours before start → possible rescheduling

  • Less than 36 hours → no refund

Multi-day expeditions:

  • Cancellation 8 days or more before start → partial refund (excluding deposit and committed expenses)

  • Less than 8 days → no refund

No-shows: no refund.

Cancellation Due to External Conditions

If a tour is canceled or modified due to:

  • Severe weather

  • Official park closures

  • Government restrictions

  • Public safety concerns

  • Technical safety decisions by the lead guide

The company may:

  • Modify the itinerary

  • Reschedule the activity

  • Offer future credit

Refunds, if applicable, shall be limited strictly to amounts not already committed to third-party suppliers.

8. Itinerary Changes

For safety, weather, terrain, or operational reasons, itineraries may change without prior notice.

The lead guide has final authority regarding safety decisions, continuation, modification, or termination of any activity.

9. Third-Party Services

The company acts as an organizer and coordinator and shall not be held responsible for acts, omissions, delays, negligence, or failures of third-party providers, including but not limited to:

  • Hotels

  • Transportation providers

  • Lodges or refuges

  • Local communities

  • National parks

  • Independent contractors

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the company’s total liability shall not exceed the amount paid by the participant for the specific tour or service.

The company shall not be liable for:

  • Missed flights

  • Travel delays

  • Indirect or consequential damages

  • Loss of personal belongings

  • Additional expenses incurred by the participant

  • Emotional distress claims

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for gross negligence or willful misconduct under Colombian law.

11. Participant Conduct

Participants agree to:

  • Refrain from consuming alcohol or psychoactive substances before or during technical activities

  • Follow all guide instructions

  • Respect local communities and natural environments

  • Avoid behavior that endangers themselves or others

Failure to comply may result in immediate removal from the activity without refund.

12. Image and Media Release

During activities, photographs and videos may be taken.

Participants grant the company permission to use such media for promotional and marketing purposes.

Participants may opt out in writing prior to the start of the activity.

13. Data Protection

Personal data is processed in accordance with Colombian Law 1581 of 2012.

Data may be used for:

  • Reservation management

  • Operational communication

  • Promotional communications (subject to prior authorization)

14. Cookies

This website may use essential cookies required for functionality. Users may manage cookies through their browser settings.

15. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by the laws of the Republic of Colombia.

Any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Bogotá D.C., Colombia.
